Electic

Claire has really been into eclectic dressing lately. Sometimes the outfit works and other times it doesn't. We pick our battles and this is one that I have given up on. Her style has now carried over to evening wear as well.

Prayer Can Move Mountains Right?

Claire has her moments where she will happily eat whatever has been prepared for her and then there are other times that you would think we are trying to posion her with green beans. I know you moms know exactly what I am talking about. Well last night we sat down to chili and she asked us if she could pray, hubs and I stuck our chests out a little as we were so proud that she was asking to lead us in prayer. We closed our eyes and she prayed:

"Thank you Jesus for our food, I sure hope my mom made this good, please."

Tramatized

Baby has a URI (upper respitory infection) and we took her temperature in her hiney and when I was done I realized I didn't have anymore rubbing alcohol to clean it with so I wrapped it real good in toilet paper until I could run to HEB today to purchase some more. This morning Claire was playing in my bathroom while I was getting ready and tidying up my bedroom. A little while later I went into my bathroom only to notice that the thermometer was not where I had left it and it was laying out on my counter. I panicked (the OCD germ part of me thought she was having a panic attack), found Claire and demanded that she confess her sins. She did, she told me what I didn't want to hear that indeed she had used it in her mouth to pretend she was taking her temperature.

Our little

maide, Cinderella, Annie

Seriously folks this child watched Annie one too many times over the holidays because while she was cleaning up her mess she was singing "It's a hard knock life".

today you came into this world, quietly...not because you would be a quiet child but because you couldn't breath, the cord was tight around your neck and you were drowning in amniotic fluid, they whisked you and daddy away without me holding or kissing you. NICU took great care of you until you were released into my arms. Daddy stayed with you the entire time, and called me on the phone and told me you were beautiful, what you looked like and that you were his precious doodlebug. You made an entrance into this world and lucky for you, you had been the only girl born not only that day but within the last few days so everyone on staff cooed over you, and treated you like royalty. I will never forget the first time I layed eyes on you and you looked back at me with your beautiful blue eyes, nor will daddy ever forget you looking at him. You still make our eyes water when you look at us.

We laughed because you wanted to come on Christmas but held out for the 26th because you wanted to make sure you had your own special day, you do and you always will. You are our special little princess and every day I see you growing more and our prayer is that you grow more with the Lord and that you will always stay under the Lord protective covering.

Happy Birthday beautiful girl! We love you.

Plumbing Problems

We are having plumbing problems around here, but not the kind like you would think. Yesterday Claire managed to use and then put an ENTIRE roll of toilet paper in the toilet, and then flushed, flushed again, and tried once more. She came out of the bathroom and walked into the kitchen calmly and informed me that her bathroom floor had water on it. Sure the bathroom floor, the shower curtain, the stool, the hallways. That was fun.

Then today while daddy was leaving to go hunting, she was in the bathroom for a while, but we were talking and didn't notice HOW long (though I seriously doubt it was THAT long), I peeked into the bathroom, and this time she looked like a deer in the headlights, there was water all over the place again. Apparently she was having fun with the drain plug, and come to find out our works! I sent daddy on his way, and then waded thru the bathroom to clean up again.

We are going to have a SERIOUS discussion on flowable things!

Growing Up

At her birthday party Claire received a gift card to Target, since then it has been burning a hole in her pocket, so today we went to Target just for her.

She left the house dressed up with jewelry and her pocketbook ready to hit the stores. She knew what she wanted the My Little Pony Ice Cream Truck. We walked in and she headed straight for the toy department, a section we rarely visit. We found the right isle and it was like the stores lights were shining right on it. She was so thrilled it was $19.99 and she had $10.00, I told her this might be a possiblity, so she asked if she could earn the rest of it by helping me around the house and we could come back at a later time. I agreed, then she asked me if she could pick something else instead, I told her that was fine too, so she picked this instead.

We made our way to the front, she placed it on the conveyer belt handed the lady her "credit card", got it back, carried her bag all the way to the car with a big beaming smile. I realized she is growing up, it isn't fair but such is life. She is now happily playing with her new toy that she bought with her own money and is very proud of herself.

Do you mind if I

leave my child here while I go run errands?

I was asked this by a mom yesterday at Claires birthday party (it isn't her birthday really)at a local gym. My jaw dropped, and when I said "no I would like you to stay". She seemed irritated. Granted I don't know this woman very well, our daughters are in the same preschool, but still I have no shame in telling her no when I don't know her daughter very well. My mother in law was there and she was shocked as well. Turns out this is "common" practice in young kids birthday parties. I could see asking this if it had been in my house, but not at a gym, filled with breaking hazards everywhere you turn.

On a lighter note she had a great party, and we got to surprise her with her grandma and her Aunt being here for the festivities, which was a great treat. There were about 15 kids if you count my two, and by the end each kid had a GOOD slice of cake, ice cream, and a handful of candy. This was our first "formal" party and it went off without a hitch, which made it even better.

Have any of you had moms that wanted to leave their kids? Do you let them?

Am I crazy

for wanting to clean my carpets myself? Probably, hubs has graciously said we could have it professionally done, but yesterday morning I thought I would take on the task myself, so I set out on foot to see which one of my neighbors have a carpet cleaner, I hit the jackpot with the first one! I got the 411 on how it works, how much to add of this and that, and I was on my way carrying the cleaner and baby and trying to make sure Claire wasn't going to run out into the road.

I got the girls rooms, two hallways, and the playroom done and I plan to finish the rest of the house today. IT IS SO MUCH FUN! I am loving this! Claire is fascinated with it so she just follows along behind me watching, and the baby is scared to death of it so I have to carry her while I am doing it, but I love seeing the results! We don't wear shoes in our house, in fact if you make it past the entry hall with your shoes on, I attack as though the world is coming to an end. Regardless my carpet was still a bit shady is some spots, so I can't imagine what it would look like if people could wear their shoes on my white carpet! Ekkk!

A glimpse of things to come

Well we made it thru the rehersal without any bloodshed. In fact the ring bearer is younger than Claire is, so they asked her to be his boss in order to make sure he did what he was supposed to do. They don't know what they are asking by requesting her to be boss!!!

Stay tuned for wedding photos!

Almost Emergency

Today was Claires Fall Party at school, when I got there the teachers glanced at each other with this look like "oh no she is here". They pulled me aside and informed me that Claire had gotten her finger stuck in a screw (Little Tikes wood shop) today while playing.

Apparently they called the KDO director and she tried to remove it, then they called the children's pastor (who my daughter informed me was NOT in his office), they were getting ready to call me to take her to the er when it finally came off.

They were shocked that I was calm, apparently most parents fly off the handle over things like this. I told them after her sticking her something in an outlet when I was about 8 1/2 months pregnant nothing freaks me out.

On the bright side her friends watched in horror and she taught them an important lesson!

God always watches over his flock!

What's That Smell

Up until now, I don't recall being humiliated in public by my children. The occasional meltdown at Target doesn't get to me, and the fit throwing when it is time to leave church makes me proud that she has a great time.

I had to run a quick errand yesterday, I could breeze in and out in a jiffy and we would be on our way. We past a man and Claire exclaims in the loudest voice possible "MOM THAT MAN SMELLS!", I felt all the blood escape from my head, and I froze in time. She not only said it once but she said it again. I quickly had to get her quiet before the man was humiliated, though he didn't seem to mind. I tried to talk to her in a low voice about how RUDE that was, and why we don't say things like that. She softly informed me that he smelled like coffee and that she had forgotten to mention that.
