Growing Up
At her birthday party Claire received a gift card to Target, since then it has been burning a hole in her pocket, so today we went to Target just for her.
She left the house dressed up with jewelry and her pocketbook ready to hit the stores. She knew what she wanted the My Little Pony Ice Cream Truck. We walked in and she headed straight for the toy department, a section we rarely visit. We found the right isle and it was like the stores lights were shining right on it. She was so thrilled it was $19.99 and she had $10.00, I told her this might be a possiblity, so she asked if she could earn the rest of it by helping me around the house and we could come back at a later time. I agreed, then she asked me if she could pick something else instead, I told her that was fine too, so she picked this instead.
We made our way to the front, she placed it on the conveyer belt handed the lady her "credit card", got it back, carried her bag all the way to the car with a big beaming smile. I realized she is growing up, it isn't fair but such is life. She is now happily playing with her new toy that she bought with her own money and is very proud of herself.

How precious! We have an almost 9 year old who cannot stand to have any money. If she has money, it is already spent in her head. ON ANYTHING. It doesn't matter what it might be, gum, laundry detergent, vitamins, you name it, if it costs something, she wants it! We FINALLY convinced her to save her pennies to purchase a big thing and my parents and Hubby's grandma matched her and her brother dollar for dollar. Surprise surprise, brother got his first, ha ha ha! Oh and now, oldest girl has lost her winter coat and has had to purcahse a new one...without getting her big purchase yet. She owes money...UGH UGH UGH! I sure hope she is doing chores at her grandparents! Boy, this is a long comment...I should have just emailed you!
What fun. My kids got cash for their birthday and IndieGirl loved carrying her money in a purse and thinking over each possible purchase and giving the money to the cashier. She even got change! It is fun to see them growing up.
