Hair Bows

I love hair bows! I think they are adorable and a must have for all little girls. Hubby agrees but has a hard time with me spending $8 and up for just one hair bow. I decided that it was high time I learn how to make my own, and I have and it has been GREAT! I googled making hair bows and found this website. Praise the Lord for these lovely ladies because they have saved me lots and lots of money. I drove to my local Hobby Lobby and spent $20.00 on fabric and clips, and here are my results so far.

I still have tons of ribbon to use up, but the price difference has been fantastic and my hubby has given me the green light to go back and buy more ribbon if I would like. Next time hopefully the ribbon will be on sale or I can print a 40% off coupon online (this week was for Wilton products). If you have girls I encourage you to go to this website and learn to make them yourself. I have no creative gene in my body, but I can twist, tie, sew, and use a glue gun.

Once you are done making your bows they even give you ideas on how to make bow holders. I made the girls one like this and I am going to make one like this for a friends daughter.

Class of ........

I prefer to think of myself as "all things non-crarfty". I have the ideas but when it comes to carry out, I stink at it. I thought I had come to terms with this and just given up any and all hope, until Wednesday.

I have to admit I am quite proud of her outfit, considering I got the idea at 3:00. I knew she wouldn't sit in a stroller the whole evening and that I would be wearing her. I considered making us kangaroos, but then I realized neither of us own brown attire, and we don't have any head bands either. Then I thought about thing 1 and thing 2, but didn't know where I could get blue hair in the next 90 minutes. Then I came up with my fabulous idea........

I used two tubes of super glue, managed to glue nearly all my fingers together as well as my carpet. Now I know why they call it SUPER GLUE! Hubs informed me that two tubes of super glue was WAYYYYYYYY too much, but hey her hat didn't move did it?

Now I know there are others out there who would have made it more fabulous, but for me this is great!

...and an update on Christmas Cards

My d.h. finished the CHRISTMAS CARDS!!! HURRAY!!! He did an excellent job too...A few got stuck together but oh well we can always make a few more if needed. Hopefully we will get little monkies pictures taking this weekend so we can include them in the card.

I will post a portrait of the final product once we get them finished out....

Advent and DIY Christmas Crafts

We did Advent yesterday and of course to a two year old when there is a candle lit that means it is a birthday and it needs to be blown out. It took some talking but she finally got that it was no ones birthday. I am sure that as the weeks progress that she will understand more and more.

We have really been looking forward to doing Advent this year since she is finally old enough to start her understanding of God's love! Next week I will try to take pictures.

We also decided to do a Gingerbread House. That was too funny! First of all we kept telling her that the icing was like a glue to hold the house together....so when I dabbed some on her lips she went bonkers. She was very upset that I was trying to glue her lips together. So we decided we better just call it icing so she would simmer down some. We were getting frustrated because it was not holding up, the more it would fall though the harder we would laugh so we really did have a blast in the end.

Our next DIY Christmas Craft was/is to be homemade Christmas cards. No not the pretty ones that so many of you make; I am talking construction paper, glue, and glitter, and of course a family photo mounted inside. Note to self for next year: buy pre-made Christmas cards! Forget trying to be crafty....... I am not, no need in attempting! Plus you don't have glitter in your hair, on your feet, on the floor, on the couch and anywhere else you or your two year old may have touched! My o.h. called during our card making time and he told me I was a party pooper and I happily admitted that I was, so he said that he would make some with her tonight while I was at work, my response: BE MY GUEST! In which I passed the news along to little monkey who was more than happy to have daddy help her and we went off to read books. If I had not already bought everything totalling up to a grand total of MAYBE $4.00 I would consider just buying boxed cards, but she really did have fun and I am sure she will have fun tonight with daddy! I will let you know what he has to say about it at the end of the night!
