Blessings From Above!!

We are home from our excursion to Round Top! We really had many wrenches thrown into our plan this past week and we thought we would probably not even be able to go. My SIL was originally going to watch Claire couldn't because her oldest son got sick so we scrambled to find someone else to watch her for us. We had 48 hours to make new arrangements, so our first choice couldn't because, well they were going with us, everyone we knew had plans or for this reason or that this weekend just wouldn't work. Our sweet neighbor who has a six week old and a husband in medical school offered, so that was the new plan.....until Claire coughed. Serioulsy Thursday evening less than 24 hours after we had to find child care and 24 hours before we left, by Friday evening she was running a fever and we weren't about to send her to their house. So we voted to take her with us, but since we had rooms reserved we ended up paying for them but not ever using them because she really needed her own house and bed.......She is doing much better today though so that is GREAT. But we went and here is a bit about it.....

We had so much fun!! It was great and so was Claire. She slept in the jogging stroller a large portion of the day, rode, and occasionally got out to stretch her legs and look at the llamas. First of all everyone we knew told me what great deals you can get in Warrenton, Marburger and Round top so I had a list made up of what we wanted to come home with: church pew, hutch, possibly a bed and dresser for K's room, stain glass, and a window pane. HAHAHA yes you can get great deals but not with the budget we took was there any way we could purchase all that! A church pew ran between $350-1000k for a really intricate one (like the one we wanted), a hutch wasn't bad at $150-300, of course they had hutches for $2-3k but they weren't what we wanted. We wanted the cheaper one. Stain glass $80 & up, but oh wow they had some that you could tell came from old churches with a lamb and a Bible, and just other georgous ones but they were quite pricy. Dressers weren't bad at all we just couldn't find one we liked so we just didn't get one.

Bed's let's talk 'em. It was 6:00 and the only deal we had found was a window pane with character for $8.00 and we were fine with that because we had a GREAT time and we knew we could come back next year with a bigger budget. We were walking along and we found a really neat twin bed that we were debating on for Claire's room. When the guy showed us bunk beds he had, J and J went and looked at them, while I pondered the twin bed with my friend E. They told us they wanted $15.00 for the twin bed and $40.00 for the bunk beds!! $40.00!!! SOLD! They will be painted, but they were such a blessing as we were really hoping to purchase bunk beds for one of the guest rooms for the foster kids! We were so excited. We continued to ponder the twin bed and behind it was this georgous green full size bed, but I just assumed it was out of the question. J, J, and E kept telling me just to find out how much it was so we asked, they wanted $25.00 but if we bought the bunk beds too they would give us the bed for $15.00! $15!! SOLD! I was so excited again. God blessed us so much with these beds and we know he will bless us further as we look for mattresses and bedding!! We give HIM all the praise and glory! We left to get the truck, which we almost didn't bring because I thought we could get my whole list in the Tahoe, luckily J was smarter than me! When we loaded the pieces up he told me that it was brought out of a farm house in Mentos, Texas which the entire country only has 50 residence! Too cool!

You can find anything and everything there and it was a blast we plan to go again next year. It isn't family friendly as it is tents in cow fields but we managed fine. I recommend anyone who goes find a babysitter. We were very blessed that Claire was so well behaved despite her not feeling well, but next year if we go back I will again try to find a sitter and hope she doesn't get sick! :)
